Review

Barbara Kingsolver is a wonder. Despite the sinking feeling I had from about a quarter of the way through the book that the ending was not one I wanted, she still managed to make me feel satisfied with it. I am constantly amazed at her ability to take lowly characters and develop them into people I would love to have in my life. Even Annawake, who is easily the most unlikable character of hers I have ever come across so far, managed to grow through the course of he novel, and by the end she was almost someone I could empathize with.
All in all, another brilliant novel by a gifted writer. I can't wait to read more by her.
